The WWE are ending their UK broadcasting contract with Sky in December and will begin airing both RAW and SmackDown on BT Sport at the start of 2020.
A lot seems to be changing in the landscape of UK wrestling broadcasting. After the shocking announcement that AEW would be broadcast in the UK for free on ITV4, it seems the WWE are now looking at how they’re shown in the UK.
Currently, to watch WWE programming in the UK, you need either a satellite or cable box with a sports package and those are far from cheap deals. BT Sport however, is free to existing BT customers or Virgin Media users who have the XL package. Otherwise, it’s at a cost, but it seems as though this will make WWE programming a little more accessible to the wider audience.
Further details on the deal are not yet clear, but this is further movements from the WWE towards becoming more accessible.
